The Book Grant for 2025/2026 is €80 per pupil enrolled based on enrolments in the current school year. In 2025 the Grant is expected to be paid before the end of April 2025. The grant is used to provide schoolbooks, workbooks and copybooks and where funding allows schools can provide other classroom related resources. Any surplus grant can be used to purchase shared books, audiobooks and other material to increase the literacy (in English, Irish or other languages) and numeracy resources in a school. Alternatively, the surplus grant can be carried forward to the next school year. Schools should consider the need to replace or purchase large quantities of new schoolbooks in the following year when deciding how to use any surplus grant in the current year. Parents/Guardians will not be asked to purchase or to make a contribution to the school towards the cost of schoolbooks, workbooks or copybooks.
